Tri Lakeland Juniors are pleased to announce that their Children’s Triathlon this year will be held on Sunday 28th June 2015. The event will be hosted by Netherhall Community Sports Centre in Maryport for a fourth year.

This friendly event is run on the West Coast of Cumbria and is an ideal for those just starting out in Triathlon or the more experienced athlete, there is something for everyone beginning with the Super Sprint race distance for those want to Try a Tri, up to the standard distances for those that want to push themselves that bit harder. You do not need to be a member of a Triathlon Club or a member of British Triathlon to come and join in at this event.

Our rolling registration and multiple race distance specific briefings, will allow triathletes to turn up for their event in a just in time manner thus avoiding the hanging around that can occur at some events. We are currently planning that registration will be open from 10.45am closing at about 2.55pm allowing triathletes that are racing later in the day to arrive later.

The first race is scheduled to start at 12.30pm and will run in the order shown under “Race Distances” below. The last race is scheduled to start at approximately 3.30pm, but this will be driven by the number of entrants we have.

Spectators will be able to get close to the action, via marshaled course crossing points, and will have hot and cold food available to purchase on the day.

Any type of bicycle can be used to do this event (road bike, mountain bike, hybrid etc…) as long as the bike is road worthy and you have a helmet.

The Draft entries list sorted by Wave and Surname can be downloaded by clicking HERE. This file also contains the scheduled start times for each wave, which lane they will be swimming in and what hat colour they will be wearing. We will provide the swim hats for this event. The first half the file is sorted by Wave and the second half is sorted by Surname. Please check this list to ensure you know when you will be swimming.

The draft wave information and the Final Race Briefing document will be sent via e-mail to all entrants by 2400 on Wednesday 24th June 2015. The wave information in this document will still be in draft and may change slightly before the race on Sunday 28th June 2015. Any changes that are made will not be material.

 

Summary event details – race distances estimated

The swim will take place in a four lane 18 meter pool. The cycle stage will take place on a 1,000m grass circuit. The run stage will take place on a 600m grass circuit. The whole event will be chip timed and take place within the grounds of Netherhall Community Sports Centre.

Race distances

TriStar Start aged 8 will swim 54m, cycle 800m and run 600m
Super Sprint aged 9 – 19 will swim 54m, cycle 800m and run 600m
TriStar 1 aged 9 – 10 will swim 144m, cycle 2,000m and run 1,200m
Sprint aged 11 – 19 will swim 144m, cycle 2,000m and run 1,200m
TriStar 2 aged 11 -12 will swim 198m, cycle 4,000m and run 1,800m
TriStar 3 aged 13 – 14 will swim 288m, cycle 6,000m and run 2,400m
Youths aged 15 – 16 will swim 396m,cycle 8,000m and run 3,000m
Juniors aged 17 – 19 will swim 396m, cycle 8,000m and run 3,000m

The TriStar 1, 2, 3 & Youth races are part of the Northwest Junior Series and the Tri Lakeland
Juniors 2015 Mini Series.

The Sprint and Super Sprint races are available for children that want to compete in a shorter
distance than their standard age group event. They are ideal for children entering in their first
triathlon event. Please note that the Sprint and Super Sprint and Junior races are not included in the North
West Triathlon Junior Series or the Tri Lakeland Juniors Mini Series.
