Training

Run Sessions – Wednesdays – NO SESSION DURING SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

From the start of the summer term (April) until autumn half term (October) sessions will be on Cockermouth School fields at 17:15pm to 18:10pm.  Please dress for the weather and bring water.  After autumn half term until the the end of spring term we will meet at Wakefield Road / Memorial Gardens Car Park next to the play area at 18:00pm returning at 18:50pm.  We will be running outside so children will need to dress for the weather and always make sure that they wear hi-vis so that they can be seen.

Sessions cost £2.

Bike Session – Wednesdays –  NO SESSIONS DURING SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

During the late spring / summer months, bike training is held from 18:30pm to 19:30pm at M Sport, meeting at the main entrance.  Please remember to bring your bike helmet. The cost of the session is £2.00.

Swimming – Saturdays – NO SESSIONS DURING SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

The swim sessions begin at 12:15pm and finish at 13:15pm on Saturdays at the Cockermouth Leisure Centre. The cost for this session will be £3.00 for the hour session and or £2.00 for the 30 minute session.

All swimmers will have a swim session of 1 hour, however if agreed with the coaches less experienced swimmers have an option to swim for a 30 minute session.

Anyone new to the pool sessions will be required to come on one trial swim so we can assess their water skills. It is a minimum requirement that children must be able to swim at least 50m confidently, unaided and without stopping.

A bit about our training sessions

Our aim is to provide a fun but challenging environment for the coaching of all three triathlon disciplines.

Our run sessions for the younger group will hopefully be fun and focus on the fundamental aspects of movement (Agility, balance, co-ordination) through a number of games and circuits. For all groups we’ll be working on the technical aspects of running before progressing to longer, harder, and faster running. With the session lasting 55 / 60 minutes the athletes will also be doing a good cardiovascular workout.

Bike sessions again work on the technical aspects along with some fitness work incorporated.

Children must be ticked on the register when arriving and before leaving.

We are keen to get some feedback on the sessions from both participants and parents and if you have any questions please email Martin Varey by clicking here.

The club is open to 8-18 year olds (as of 31st December) and our aim is to provide a safe and fun environment for the teaching and development of the three disciplines that make up a triathlon, namely swimming, cycling, and running. The club adheres to the British Triathlon Federation (BTF) Safeguarding and Protecting Children Policy and are affiliated to the BTF which provides public liability insurance for all official club coaching sessions.

Members can commit to as much or as little training as they desire with no pressure to compete.
